Tuesday of the 14th Week: Reflection by Rev Fr Julian O Ekeh
Theme: DO NOT DIVERT THE GLORY OF GOD
(Matthew 9:32–38)
Jesus did a lot of miracles; of healing and casting evil spirits. After casting the mute demoniac brought to Him, the man spoke. The people marvelled. But the Pharisees ascribed His good work to the devil. They opined that it was by the prince of demons the Jesus cast out demons.
It is the bane of our world today: Calling evil good and good evil. The good men are seen to be bad while the bad and corrupt men are celebrated and called honourable. It is indeed a horrible thing.
Are you guilty of taking the glory due to God and giving it to the demon? The Lord can never share His glory with anyone.
The miracle of your life, your existence and the good things around us are all reasons for which we should give God glory. Let us not be among those who after seeing all that the Lord is doing goes on to be ungrateful through indifference or by taking sides with the enemies of Christ.
Let us acknowledge the goodness and wonders of the Lord all the days of our lives. Let us appreciate the good efforts of the people of God and discourage the evil deeds of evil men. May God help us by his grace not to divert His glory for any reason at all.
LET US PRAY
We thank You dear Lord for the gift of today. We appreciate Your good deeds in our lives and pray You to open our eyes to continue to see and glorify You for the wonders of our being and for what You are doing in our fellow human beings and in our world. May we live our lives thankfully and continue to rejoice for all Your blessings in our lives. Cast away every mute spirit making it difficult for us to speak Your praise. O Lord open our lips and our mouths shall declare Your praise. Be Thou glorified and exulted both now and for evermore. Amen
God bless your Tuesday (14th Week, Ordinary Time)
