Theme: YOU HAVE POWER AND AUTHORITY OVER DEMONS

Jesus Christ today sent His disciples on a missionary journey. He gave them power and authority over all demons, He gave them power to heal, He gave them the power to preach.

In our own mission here on earth, through our baptism, Jesus gives us power over evil spirits. He starts by delivering us from the powers of the evil one and transferring us to the kingdom of God. That explains why we have the prayer of exorcism during baptism. The mouth of the baptized is equally opened and enabled to preach the Good news. With these, we are able to heal the world especially from the disease of sin.

Dear Child of God, do you really know the authority and power at your disposal? What are you actually doing with it?

The word of God today reminds you that you are no longer a slave to any spirit. You are no longer a slave to principalities or powers. You have the greatest power at work in your life. You are not a slave to any man, to any evil system, to whatever you may encounter on your earthly journey towards heaven. You’re no longer under the manipulation of those problems tormenting your family.

What are you really facing at the moment? In your Christian journey what challenges are you dealing with? What are the forces you have to contend with in your office, business or personal life?

The Lord assures you today that you’ve got the power and the authority to overcome.

That weakness, sickness, worry and trouble is not strong enough to pull your spirit down.

You’re a conqueror in the Lord. You have your staff in your hand. With it, divide the evil seas and pass over to new life in Christ. With it, wage a war against the evil habits and influences around you. It is a sign of your authority. Have faith in what you have in your hands, what the Lord has given you. Use it to win souls to Christ. Convert sinners, drive away the roaring beasts of your spiritual, moral, academic and financial wellbeing.

As you journey along today and always, the Lord wants you to have it at the back of your mind that the demon can fight but you have what it takes to conquer. The word of God, prayers and good life are your weapons. Use them wisely.

LET US PRAY

Oh God, we thank you for the power and authority you have given us in Christ. Help us to be ever conscious of the staff in our hands as Your children. With it may we overpower the demonic forces in our world, preach to our people and heal the world making a place for the reign of God’s kingdom through Christ our Lord. Amen

God bless you Wednesday (25th Week, Ordinary Time)
