Theme: HE’S GOD OF THE LIVING; ARE YOU LIVING OR DEAD?

Image from: GOD OF THE LIVING — “I am not God of the dead, but of the living!” — YouTube

(Mark 12:18–27)

The Sadducees didn’t believe in the resurrection. They came asking questions to prove the impossibility of rising from the dead. They mistook the joys of heaven with those of the world. They found no difference between things of the flesh and things of the spirit.

Jesus pointed out their mistakes to them. He went on to define God as God of the living and not of the dead.

The question remains: Are we among those who have Yahweh as our God? Are we living or dead? What are we living for? Who are we living for?

What we do and how we live our lives show who we are living our lives for. Is our conscience living or dead? Is our sacramental life alive or dead? Is your marital love living or dead? Is our prayer life alive at all? Is our true political consciousness living or dead? Are we still living on godly values? Are the leaders of our country still seeing the importance of living in the people they govern?

You make God proud when you live for Him, when you promote the living standard of human beings, when you live here to live forever in heaven hereafter and not to die forever.

Therefore, beloved in Christ, don’t allow material things, sexual desires, satisfaction of worldly ambitions, quest for power etc to deceive you and make you lose sight of the God who created you and the values on which you should base your life.

Stand out, live for God who lives for you and sent His son to die for you that you may live forever. Don’t allow those who have died to kill your love for God whom you live for. Try rather to bring the dead in spirit to life by encouraging them, comforting them and preaching repentance to them. This is our calling as children of the Living God.

LET US PRAY

Thank You God of the living for keeping us alive in the land of the living. Continue to protect us under the shadows of Your wings as we are surrounded by causes of death here and there. Save us from eternal death Oh God and bring us to eternal life in your kingdom when our work here is done through Christ our Lord. Amen

God bless your Wednesday (Ordinary Time, Week 9)
